Bank of Biological Material
The Bank of Biological Material as a division of the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University (BBM CUNI) was established in September 2011 and involved in the large research infrastructure - BBMRI.cz, which is integrated into the BBMRI-ERIC pan-European biobank network.
The BBM CUNI's mission is to provide samples of healthy and pathological tissues for medical and biomedical research. This is carried out by collecting, processing, storing and distributing of biological samples. Relevant information for the future use of samples for research is recorded and stored in the biobank database with the appropriate privacy protection of the donors.
The obtained samples and associated medical data are used in basic and applied research on various types of diseases, primarily cancer, but also cardiovascular, neurodegenerative and rare diseases.
BBM CUNI's activities are supported by various Czech and European projects, the biobank is certified based on ISO 9001:2016.

We provide samples from cancer patients and control blood samples.
In our collections are available samples of these material types: tissue, blood, serum, plasma, DNA, urine.
