CELSPAC Biobank
The CELSPAC Biobank started its activities in 2020 at the RECETOX Centre – department of Faculty of Science, Masaryk University, the Czech Republic, as an open infrastructure to support the multidisciplinary research aimed at factors that can affect human health (the individual factors so-called exposome). Primarily automatically but also manually, it processes and systematically stores biological material from CELSPAC population studies, which provide the objective information necessary to explore the association between the different exposure factors and non-communicable diseases (NCD).
Analysis and Equipment: automatic liquid handling system (HAMILTON) and automated storage system of blood and urine aliquots (ASKION). Analysis of basic biomarkers of clinical chemistry and biochemistry in urine, serum and plasma. Blood count analysis.
Trainings: Implementation of SOPs for the collection, processing, storage and distribution of various human biological samples. Implementation of biobank automation.
Consulting: We offer advice and consultation in all types of services related to biobanking equipment and systematic processing and storage of human biological material.
The CELSPAC Biobank processes, systematically stores and then distributes to scientific teams various types of biological materials from population, environmental and bio-monitoring studies. The studied diseases are selected according to the primary hypotheses and the participants' age. Our collections include samples from a birth cohort, a cohort of young adults, and an ageing cohort.
In our collections you will find materials such as: different types of venous blood fraction, different types of cord blood fraction, capillary blood in similarly dry blood spots, urine, breast milk, meconium and stool, buccal swabs.
Details about provided samples and materials are listed in the worlwide biggest catalogue, BBMRI-ERIC Directory.
