New method for early detection of pancreatic cancer, patented in America (developed by Prof. Holčapek's team from the University of Pardubice)

The prestigious Forbes magazine published an interesting article about a new method of early detection of pancreatic cancer, developed by Prof. Holčapek's team from the University of Pardubice, and the start-up Lipidica took this method under its wing. The company has now been granted a US patent.

The biological samples from the large research infrastructure BBMRI.cz helped in the precise optimization and validation of the early detection method for pancreatic cancer developed by Michal Holcapek at the University of Pardubice.

A drop of blood is all that is needed for this lipidomic analysis!

More than 1,000 samples from donors have been provided by member biobanks for the development of this method.

We would like to thank all donors and patients, because without them and the donated material, it would not have been possible to bring this method closer to practical application, which was taken under company LIPIDICA, a.s. (spin off of the University of Pardubice and FONS JK Group, a.s. Holding).

Currently, nationwide clinical trials are underway, coordinated by the cooperating research infrastructure CZECRIN, and we as biobanks (specifically the Biobank at the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute) are participating by collecting, processing and storing these samples under monitored conditions before they are measured in Lipidica's laboratories.
